Information about recent updates will appear here. Posted 023-09-08 Version 3.2.74.1
NOTE: The next update is scheduled to be posted during the week of the March 30th 2008.
03-09-08
The next update will include an additional 'Names' report to allow for some kind of listed printing. The 'InfoBar' help information as well and the User's Manual will be updated in the next update release as well.
02-14-08
The next update is expected
to be comprised of mostly report additions for various
forms.
12-29-07 · This update completes the three part update that deals primarily with filling and refilling the data contained in the Usage, Training and Daily Log listings. This update involved the tedious process of moving through each 'Show Me' menu item and making underlying code changes to make their respective processes more efficient and user friendly. Large department updates are recommended at this time. · The expense form was altered slightly to show the 'Category' column in the lower grid as well as the subcategory column.
11-27-07 · This update is part II of III of a larger update that we are issuing in parts. In these updates, we have re-organized the methods used to fill the data in the Usage Report Listing as well as the Daily Log form so that the information that you are viewing in the list does not change when you either save the data or move into a usage report itself. Unfortunately, this is a tedious process that has a lot of checks that are required as the changes are made. Work on the Training Record Listing form will begin immediately, making the same modifications to this form as were made to the Usage and daily log form. If you are in charge of updating for a large agency and have not updated for a long time, you can feel free to go ahead and update now. However, if you can wait, it is recommended that you wait until the third portion of this update has been posted (estimated in a week and a half).
11-06-07 · Added a 'Log Building Check' button to the Daily Log form. This button enables the user to create a log entry for a building check using two simple clicks. To use this feature a building check entry must be made in the normal fashion for each individual building. After this first entry, the user can simply click the 'Log Building Check' button and select the business or building name from the selection list. The software will do the rest. The user does not have to click the 'Add' button prior to this action. KANINE takes care of adding the record, entering generic log information and saving the record. · Added a 'Start New Shift' link to the daily log form. We also removed the 'End shift' entry type, as the start shift time and end shift time are now meant to be in the same log entry. This enables us to allow for easier filtering of all records for a single shift. · Added the ability to easily show all shift times entries (Using the new Start/End shift format) in the daily log form so that the user can then show entries for only the selected shift.
· Changed the Daily Log 'Location' text field to a drop down field that lists previous location entries. · Changed the Usage form 'Address' text field to a drop down field that lists previous location entries. · Expanded the Usage and Training 'District' fields to 40 characters. · Changed the Training act and Usage Act 'Track Distance' field to a decimal so that a portion of a number can be entered (ie. 5.5).
10-26-07 · Repaired a bug in the Updater Utility that had evolved with recent software updates. This bug was not properly importing the user accounts, but is now repaired. · Fixed a minor display glitch in the Image Viewer. · Added file attaching ability to the daily log form. · Added the ability to add Mexican and Canadian state abbreviations to the vehicle plate field. · Added functionality to assist the user when an invalid date or date/time has been entered in Certifications, Training Aids form, Resume, Daily Log and Medical form. · Implemented some database changes to prepare for the addition of expense records exportation. Once this version is installed on one network computer, all other computers that connect to the same set of databases should be updated or the user will experience an error when the expense form is opened. · Changed check boxes throughout the software so that they no longer require two clicks to set to a true state. · Added code so that the Picture folder path will be changed along with the rest of the database paths when the user switches database locations.
10-07-07 · Added the ability to attach .pdf files and Word documents to the various records. These documents are attached in the same manner that photos are attached to a document. And, like the photos, these files can simply be added to a general list (not attached to an actual report) from the main menu screen by clicking 'View/Photos'. · A new button was added to the status bar at the bottom of the main menu screen that, when your mouse passes over it, will display information about where your various databases are located. · Date/time fields in the usage and training report screens have been revisited and the functionality of these fields has been reviewed and updated so that the user does not get stuck in the field when an invalid date has been entered. Now, if the user attempts to leave the field before a valid date has been entered, the date selection panel will open and allow the user to select a valid date. · The 'Change Filter' buttons that allow the user to change the contents of the records list throughout the program have been changed to 'Show Me' buttons. Some user's were confused by theses buttons. the functionality has not been changed. · A new level has been added to the User levels. This level (level 3) has allowed some changes to take place to level 2 users so that a level 2 user can view all records and can access software options, but cannot change or delete records that do not belong to them. A level 3 user, however, has all rights. This change adds a little more protection against accidental record alterations by the level 2 user. · Links that point to both resident files, such as the User's manual, as well as some internet web sites have been optimized so that they open the default browser instead of KANINE's built in browser window. This speeds up the process of opening these links and should also help those using a proxy server.
