What can Nitro- Evidence do for you?

• Nitro-Evidence (NE) is a password protected evidence tracking system that allows various types of user interaction based on a built-in user rights system.

• NE allows for the methodical entry of case, property, subject and case officer information so that evidence can be tracked and later located and released or destroyed.

• NE automatically creates permanent Log Entries (for the Chain of Custody) which track important evidentiary events such as collection information, case creation and property entry information, transfers and property release information. The system also allows for the manual entry of Chain of custody events.

• NE allows for the storage of picture evidence connected directly to the evidence record. These photos are easy to print in a professional looking print layout.

• NE automatically creates a bar-coded property tag, professionally identifying the evidence along with a date time stamp.

• NE creates a printable Chain of Custody report showing the life of the evidence in a professional looking report.

• NE allows property to be searched by various parameters, allowing officers or evidence clerks to locate property within the system accurately.

• NE provides the ability for street officers (if necessary) to enter property information into the system and place the property into a secure "temporary" storage area. Evidence clerks can then view all property that is waiting to be formally "ACCEPTED" into evidence and then "ACCEPT" and place the evidence. A "notification of acceptance" report can then be printed for the officer indicating that the evidence clerk has taken responsibility for the property. When used in this manner, pertinent evidence information is entered by the officers who are in the know, while the security of the Evidence room is maintained.

• NE has a built-in property inventory system that selects an adjustable number of random property items for inventory by evidence personnel. Of course, a 100% inventory can be performed as well. This inventory system assists in the detection of misplaced items, while at the same time lending professionalism to the Agency and evidence personnel.

• NE automatically sends your evidence data to a backup file every time an evidence custodian or supervisor exit the system.

• NE sends all case data to an archive file when the case is deleted from the system. This keeps the size of the Nitro-Evidence database manageable, while storing information permanently, which may be important years later.

• NE will also allow for the on scene entry of evidence via a laptop and the Remote Entry Module, which can then later be transferred to the main database back at the office. Take a Dymo label printer with you and print you evidence labels on-sight.

• Scanning bar-coded property labels allows for quick processing of property.

• The Case number update utility changes the case number for all related property in cases where the wrong case number is initially entered.

• NE makes data entry easy, remembering subjects, offenses, etc. for later entries. NE also auto-fills many fields when entering numerous property items to expedite item entry.

• One button prints property labels for all items related to a single case.

• NE is password protected and allows thorough control over the actions that any single user can perform.

• Iowa Agencies can take advantage of built in DCI lab forms that are created with a few simple clicks using the information already entered for each case.

• And that's not all, Evidence manager even notifies the Evidence personnel and case officers alike when evidence has been in the system for an extended amount of time and allows for a complete notification to be printed, which can then be forwarded to the case officer. The case officer can then either extend the "Re-check" date or authorize the property to be released or destroyed.

Remote Entry Module

The REM is exactly like the main Nitro-Evidence program, with some modifications. This application has been designed to allow for the entry of case information and property items in the field via a laptop. Once back at the station, the data can be downloaded to the primary Nitro-Evidence database on the department's server.

Because data entry via the REM is identical to that of the Primary Nitro-Evidence software, there is nothing additional to learn in using the REM.

The REM makes a large search warrant manageable. Using the REM, you can assign an officer to enter property information as it is found. And, if you take a Dymo label printer along, you can print bar-coded labels for each property item as the items are found.

Once back at the department, you simply download the remotely entered information, allowing the evidence technicians to then accept and place the property into the evidence room.
