About the Profiles ScreenThe Profiles screen is where new Handler, Supervisor and K-9 profiles are created. Each handler profile requires a license and enables the logged in user to access all functionality within the KANINE software. Supervisory Access accounts are provided for free, but are limited in the actions that they can perform. Supervisory users cannot add or edit most types of data records.Any person requiring access to the KANINE system are required to have either a Handler or a Supervisory Access profile to enter the system.K-9 profiles store information about the unit’s K-9’s and are necessary for the completion of any record type that contains a field for the K-9 name.IntroductionThe Profiles screen is the key to entry and navigation for both K9 handlers and Supervisors both. Not only do profiles control whether or not the user is able to gain access to the KANINE application itself, but also controls which screens and functions within the application that you can access. there are many more permissions in version 5.0 than in any previous version. Access to the profile screen is provided on the main screen by clicking the ‘Profiles’ button.Creating new profiles•Creating Handler Profiles- Any handler whose records will be kept in the KANINE software system, must have a Handler Profile. To create a profile for a handler that requires access to all functionality, click the ‘New’ button and then select the ‘New handler/Supervisor Profile’. To create a profile for a handler that is not a supervisor and does not require access to supervisory functions, click the ‘New Standard handler Profile’. The standard handler selection creates the same type of profile record, it simply de-selects unwanted supervisory related permissions by default. Once the profile has been created you can adjust selectable permissions as desired for the Handler.•Creating New Supervisory Profiles- Supervisory profiles are license free (After KANINE is registered with any number of handler licenses), but have limited ability in the actions that they can perform. User’s with Supervisory accounts can be allowed to access all areas of the software, but cannot add or edit K-9 related record data. To create these types of profiles simply click ‘New’ and then select ‘New Supervisor Access Profile’. Once the profile has been created you can adjust selectable permissions as desired for the Supervisory user.•Creating New K-9 Profiles- K-9 profiles track data related to the K-9 itself and allow the user to assign records to the desired K-9. KANINE software allows an unlimited number of K-9 records to be kept in the system. To create a new K-9 profile click the ‘New’ button and then select ‘New K-9 Profile’. When a K-9 retires, it is not necessary to delete the K-9’s Profile. Retired K-9 profiles can remain in the system indefinitely.
