About Standardized FunctionalityThere are many functions and processes that are intended to be standardized throughout the software. This standardization gives the software a consistent look and feel throughout and lets the user know that he/she can expect the same functionality no matter where they are within the software. This page will document that any functionality that is considered standard.Themed Highlight ColorsKANINE 5.0 provides the ability for the user to select virtually any color to be set as the them color for text and some highlights. Theme colors are user specific, so that each user can adjust the theme color to their own liking. The system will remember the theme color and apply the theme after the user logs in each time. The theme color can be set by going to ‘Tools/Theme Color.Active Field HighlightingKANINE 5.0 is designed to actively show the user which data entry field has the current focus. This functionality is standard for ‘Data entry’ fields and displays a light dotted outline around the active field in the users theme color.Active Record LockingTo protect critical record data from being accidentally overwritten, or altered by an unauthorized person, KANINE 5.0 locks all data entry records. Most records, when unlocked, will re-lock when the user moves to a different record. This includes save and delete actions, as these functions trigger a record refill. Click the ‘Unlock’ button on any screen to unlock the record. Most records will automatically perform the unlock function when the ‘New’ button is clicked to create a new record. Some buttons or fields that do not actually allow the data to be altered are unlocked by default so that the user can view records and create reports. Non-handler supervisor accounts cannot unlock records for data editing.Shortcut referenceMany of the screens in KANINE 5.0 have special keyboard shortcuts that assist the user in using the application without having to use the mouse. Screens that include keyboard shortcuts will have a button like this one that can be pressed to show information about available shortcuts for that screen.Full Screen ListingThe Full Screen listing button appears on many data entry screens. This button hides data entry fields and allows the record listing to be viewed in full screen mode. This can assist the user in manually locating a record.Grid Font AdjustmentThe ‘Grid Font’ button appears on many data entry screens. This button allows the user to change the font characteristics of text in record listing grids, application-wide.More documentation to come...
